We need shame back, sorry Brené Brown

I’ve been mobilizing the masses. By masses I mean my two friends for my campaign to bring shame back. Listen, I LOVE Brené Brown and I have listened to her talks and read her books where she speaks about shame and I totally agree with her but we need shame back.

Hear me out. I read or hear about shocking things people do so brazenly and it always shocks me. Always. And the more I think about it the more I realize there is a necessary dose of shame we all need to be decent members of society. The kind of shame that stops you from doing certain things like littering for example.

I know shame has very bad rep in society. And I get it. However I still think shame is necessary. A healthy dose of it at least. I have dealt with a lot of bullshit in the past few months which I would have never encountered if people just had shame.

I always says South African racists are hated everywhere simply because they lack shame. I’m not convinced that white people in other countries are not racist however I think it’s their shame that keeps them from running their mouths or letting their twitter fingers get too excited.

I’m still thinking of when I’ll launch my campaign but we desperately need shame back.
